Hello there, Welcome to Gluten Free City Girl!
My name is Saara (pronounced ‘Sarah’) and I am a soon-to-be-thirty something, living in the wonderful city of Manchester. I decided to start this blog as of way of showing others my favourite gluten free recipes, reviews of restaurants I have dined in as well as blogging about myself with the odd beauty/fashion review thrown in for good measure.
Back in 2007, I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease whilst at University in Manchester. Back then, ‘free from’ foods weren’t as popular as they are now which resulted in a novice chef like myself, creating my own easy, simple and cheap gluten free recipes. So in 2011, I decided to delve in the world of blogging and started my first blog: The Gluten Free Student Cookbook. The aim of my site was to find the cheapest and easiest way to make gluten free meals that all students love as well as reviewing gluten free products as well as restaurant reviews.
However in 2013, during a flight to New Zealand, my health suffered a little set back. After tests, 2 surgeries, scans and a few ‘proddings and pokings’ I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis. Some days I am as ‘fit as a fiddle, however some days I am having to take morphine and curl up into a ball. Although this blog isn’t about my Endometriosis, I will at times blog about it in case any of you lovely people suffer from it too.
